Someone told him it was mauvelous.

Okay, but WTF is Chris Pine all dressed up like a 50s serial killer for?

Gonna lay out one controversial take: Gunn probably still is a bit of a jerk. But Cernovitch needs to be punched in the dick so hard that his next piss will be from lunar orbit.

They’d piss off the alt-righters and they know their way around an action/sci-fi movie. Win-win :D

More than any other of the Marvel franchises GotG feels like one man’s vision.

They could bring back Nicole Perlman, the person actually responsible for the GotG “vision” for which people keep trying to credit Gunn.

Yep. If anything you do blows back on the brand, you’re out. And because more people actually saw Gunn’s tweets this time around, his old tweets newly endangered the brand.

I forget where, but I heard one explanation for Disney’s mentality. It is a policy that goes back to Walt himself. NOBODY DOES ANYTHING TO HARM THE BRAND. If your actions cast a shadow on Disney's family friendly image, you're out. Even if it wasn't your fault. Even if it isn't fair. The mouse takes a bullet for

I mean, all I’m taking from your comment is that a lot more people need to be fired.

I get what you’re trying to say, but I disagree that Mel never had a real apology. Mel Gibson apologized twice formally, went on live television admitting what he said and owning up to it, talked to Jewish leaders about what path he should take to lead towards healing, and has been sober ever since that DUI. He also

Yeah man, you can either have values OR think Disney should rehire a director. Literally impossible to have both.

Gunn did not apologize for these tweets in 2012, he apologized for some other offensive blog posts he made. There’s been no indication that Disney knew about these tweets. Ya’ll need to stop making stuff up, it’s hurting your case.

Meh. I’m of the opinion that we as movie goers put way to much stock in the whole idea of “one mans vision” making a movie what it is. Especially in HUGE movies like this where the formula has already been established.

To be fair, every person who worked on those films is either dead now or extraordinarily old.

“[The Tweets]...are unacceptable in the #MeToo era and are not in line with Disney’s family-friendly image.”

If they’re in earnest about this, I hope Disney hires a woman or person of color in his absence.

It’s so fucking stupid to stick up for this rich-bitch director. He went to work for the House of Mouse and he knew the risks and now all he has is his millions to keep himself warm... and far, far away from most of the poor saps defending him. The rich are not your friends

Thanks for the clarification. I do think it’s more about the blog post but he does refer to social media in general and the bad jokes/humor he used on there. I appreciate the citation.

I could be wrong but so far when I’ve looked into his apology from the past it was about a blog he wrote which was about having sex with comic book women or something along those lines. Is there another instance where he apologized for specifically tweeting the rape jokes?

Everyone keeps saying James Gunn addressed these Tweets years ago, there’s no proof of that fact. He addressed inappropriate blog posts he wrote regarding female Superheroes, but he never addressed any of his unearthed Tweets. Or at least no one has provided proof he has.

That said, he wrote what he wrote 7-10 years
