@wild7s: I didn't think she'd been mistaken - I said that it wasn't like *she* had been mistaken for a guy (which happens) - but that they had figured her gender and assumed it wasn't for her. I stand by what I said, especially considering how many commenters have received similar letters.
@wild7s: Don't you think the default gender assumption of a generic response sort of - oh, I don't know - reveals a gender bias in their standard operating procedure?
I'm honestly kind of surprised at the joking about this over here. I knew it would show up on Gawker, but the allegations are quite serious - and worse than the ones leveled at Edwards.
Out of curiosity, did any of you go to a public school? This sounds like the kind of stuff that happened at the private Ivy my wife went to - I, however, attended Large Public University X and never got to do any of this stuff.
