My younger son basically spends all of his time in Party Royale, which is just the big open world map, without combat. You can drive, fish, explore, hang out with friends, etc. He loves it. He also loves creating his own worlds, since Fortnite has a seemingly endless number of props to use when building.

So Ken is just Phil Dunster (Jamie Tart from Ted Lasso)?

Once my YouTube player cleared up and I could see what was meant to be pixelated and what wasn’t, I was really into this! I like these retro-inspired games that blend old and new technology. There’s a trend of making games look the way your brain thinks they did, when in reality they looked way crummier.

Yeah I wasn’t saying those don’t also have morally problematic things in them, I’m just saying they had more satisfying conclusions (hence, “stick the landing”). Also it’s pretty subjective to argue what’s more morally sound (tricking someone into sex vs. drugging your pregnant wife-sister in your messed up mind

As someone else said, it's the mocap. When it's done on stylized characters like this it creates a "person in a mascot suit" vibe. If they were hand animated with the sharp movement of a 2D animated character (essentially small pauses at each pose) it would feel less uncanny.

Honestly just reskin Ghost of Tsushima.

This game was like playing an M. Night Shyamalan movie. Intriguing concept and setting and performances...and a payoff that spoils the whole thing.

Totally agree. He’s the grumpy old timer on the crew. It’s part of his character arc for sure. It’s just presented in a way that makes it obvious this thing was made 20 something years ago. Otherwise there's some pretty forward thinking choices and representation in this show. It really was ahead of its time.

This was one of those shows I finally checked out during the pandemic. Watched the whole series over a few weeks on my treadmill and really enjoyed it (I do not generally like anime). Aside from some of Jet’s casual misogyny, it’s mostly aged really well! It’s got a great noir/western vibe.

My guess is the rampant copyright infringement lol. I let my kids play this for about a week, and then uninstalled it. It felt like it was bad for their brains lol. They were just jumping from crappy knock off game to crappy knock off game. Getting increasingly frenzied and excited with each one. For a non-discerning

To your point on it actually being good...I’m not sure. I played the first hour and a half last night and left feeling like I did with the full game—an overwhelming feeling of “this is fine.”

My kids play Fortnite all the time, and they came down to my office the other day and said, “Dad, Fortnite added an Among Us mode!”

Asset re-use seems to be a huge part of how Ubisoft can crank out such gigantic open worlds, and it’s a super smart use of resources. Apparently the Far Cry 5 level creator pulled in assets from Assassin’s Creed games, because why not, it’s all the same engine.

I just finished this last night. Some tips:

In my experience the only distinguishing factor between libertarian and republican in America is that the former doesn’t (usually) tie Christianity into everything, while the latter bastardizes and weaponizes it. Otherwise, they’re functionally the same.

I was hoping for a new Splinter Cell, but given Ubi’s focus, I wasn’t really expecting it. This is actually more in line with the live service kind of stuff they want to do, and I don’t have even a little bit of interest in it.

I came to Witcher 1 late and eventually gave up on it. The whole thing just felt clunky, but I dug the world enough to jump right into Witcher 2. Of the three games, that one seems to have the most straight forward plotting, because it’s not fully open world. You’ll move through different areas as the story progresses

I went to Italy not long after playing Assassin’s Creed 2 and it was extremely cool. So much of the basic architecture in Florence was the same. It was so accurate I couldn’t shake the feeling that I’d been there before. There’s this open-air market that’s there in AC selling you supplies, and is still there today in

It was hard to tell, but to me it looked like in those videos that the ADS they really ramped up in Halo 5 is mostly gone. Seemed like a lot of shooting from the hip, which I think is probably the right move. Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal didn’t let you aim down the sights, and it felt like a throwback, but it also felt

I’m really interested in what the single player will be. I’d love for something more open and freeform.
