It was... different. Especially after having read the books, it was hard to see the characters act out of sorts. The actors were great (except for the hipster Gilbert) but they changed the storyline to make Anne’s experiences as an orphan quite a bit more traumatizing than I remember.

Seriously. I just watched Anne with an E on Netflix (aka Gritty Anne of Green Gables) and I am still traumatized.
