While I agree with the thrust of your comment, I’d like to add that - as a Canadian who is very critical of my own country - I’m personally shocked by your free speech laws because I prefer Canada’s approach of ‘free speech until you’re inciting hatred’. 

He was Oprah’s interior design friend. He also lost his partner (like, while he was right there) in the 2004 tsunami, and I can credit my mom’s turn-around on gay rights to watching him crying about it on Oprah. That’s most of what I know about him. 

Sometimes I feel like an ordinary person. Then I see this kind of praise (not overblown, I’m genuinely glad you enjoyed it that way! It’s just the variety of praise) heaped on this film which made me feel like a freak for hating it so much. Guess something’s broken in me.
