That.... isn’t even remotely true but an often thrown around misconception. While several (no where near all) monsters were given vague or incomprehensible descriptions they were often seen. Some examples

Shoggoth. Yog-sothoth is described as a series of iridescent spheres that exude malevolence. So think evil bubbles. The other things are mi-go since I’m writing a comment anyway.
