From that price tag, I though you were going to show us a 50k original mile Prelude and then we’re argue whether the lowering and the exhaust or whatever would be annoying to change.

Many PHEV owners also never plug them in. So they’re dragging around extra weight for nothing, further reducing the efficiency of the gas engines they still have to maintain.

I understand the porpoising thing. It was making F1 look stupid. The response kinda cemented the stupidity imo.

The real facts are that 62 cents per Kw is bullshit for PGE home charging EV customers.

We are PGE customers, and we pay 25 cents per Kw to charge our EV. They offer a whole house EV charging plan for 25 cents per Kw, from midnight to 3pm 7 days a week, just by sending them the VIN of your EV. No charge, no second

I find it very funny that people like you exist

A wise man once said “the numbers are made up and the points don’t matter”
The math is skewed and they made numbers up for “opportunity costs” but no mention of general maintenance costs on an ICE car? I usually have to do 2-3 oil changes a year depending on how much I drive, which, if I go with the recommended full

My dude, a gap of $4.45 per fill-up is going to add up pretty fast over time.

Yea, the math seems wildly off. My ChargePoint app keeps track of my home charging costs. We have two EVs and pretty much exclusively charge at home. In summer I average about 16 kWh per 100 km in the Ioniq, and more like 21 in the winter. Let’s call that 420 km of range on average, and to be generous let’s take that

Yes, I can see why the consultants who work for legacy automakers putting out a propaganda piece promoting their clients’ agenda, since they’ve been doing it for a few years now. But it’s embarrassing that Jalopnik would just promote it uncritically, given that this consultancy’s previous report, when parroted

Yeah, I know a guy who’s bill quadrupled after getting an EV. Then it burned his house down, and, being a smart car, it then hunted his kids down, and is still on the loose. Be wary.

yeah, when you consider you have to flip the car and avoid buying something else to avoid holding the bag when the battery goes boom, paying taxes on whatever you buy to replace it, depreciation, ect you are not saving any money with the EV.

That’s fucking ridiculous that your PGE charges that much.

Wouldn’t this just go to show that a used EV (Leaf or Bolt) would be an excellent choice for the price conscious?

Just because your electric is almost 4 times the national average doesn’t mean the math doesn’t work for everyone that buys an electric car. I pay Just under $0.11 per kWh so my EV makes perfect sense. You’re also comparing an EV to a hybrid, not an EV to a ICE vehicle so your results are not the norm for most of

why are you using more than 500kwh a month?  thats ridiculous.

Cost to buy and drive for 10 years:

EV’s already make sense from a price perspective.  It’s just that people automatically rule out vehicles like the Leaf and Bolt because they are econoboxes and they don’t actually care just about price anyways.

Sounds like she could be jalopnik writer of the month lol

Is this Facebook where grandpa is spouting whatever BS some random Fox News talking head told him to think? JFC I expect a bit more from a site dealing with cars.

Seriously?
