Right, but they did it with bow and arrows, and weren’t able to just evaporate into smoke and warp around willy-nilly to kill everyone in sight.
To be clear: I understand why Boreal can’t just roam freely in the city, due to the Specters, but I was a bit perplexed by the show’s suggestion he regularly enters the city, especially since we’ve seen him use the windows before and never covered the idea that the city is a portal between them.
Right, but why risk going there at all? I get that the Specters represent a risk, so he can’t just chill out indefinitely, but it was a bit too casual the way he waltzes in.
Stephen King also wrote unreadable EW columns so I’d say that perhaps being a gifted writer of fiction and being an entertaining pop-culture columnist simply aren’t always compatible. ::chokes back tears::
Here's an easy way: Diablo is a fairly likeable, fairly clever writer and personality. Harm is a gross, egotistical asshole.
I don’t want to spoil it, but during the televised ceremony, they were going to surprise him with a Bst R&B Albm Grmmy.
Being a talented and adaptable director may not be an exciting “signature”, but it is something to be proud of. I don’t think Denis Villeneuve has a recognizable style; he just... only makes excellent movies.
Watched this for the first time recently and very much enjoyed it. There’s a conceit that some movies are only for certain audiences, but good movies have something to say to everyone, says I.
I can’t believe Maher escaped #metoo unscathed.
Ugh, this hurts. I hate to see people who haven’t been cancelled bitch about being potentially cancelled. Makes me suspicious. For the record, Bill Maher is in this camp too.
They might have emphasized it in the trailer, which is selling a somewhat more flip and sexual movie than what the movie actually is, but I thought I recalled Cody and/or Kusama talking about the scene earnestly, not “yeah the studio made us add this.” FWIW, I feel like it makes sense in context and kinda deepens the…
I liked this movie when it came out and I still like it. I though Fox was great in it and Amanda was good. Shout out to Brody who played his small part as the asshole you wish dies an awful death.
Karyn Kusama is an interesting director whose style I haven’t been able to pin down. It seems odd that the same person directed Jennifer’s Body, The Invitation, and Aeon Flux!
Wow. I really don’t know what to say, except that I am incredibly ashamed at what I said. I have no idea what I was referencing there, or what I was thinking by being so vulgar.
Claiming to be bisexual or fascist (despite negligible proof of the latter and a lifetime of evidence against the former) was part of the act.
This was also when every article about Anne Hathaway would feature comments talking about masturbating to her. When people say “I miss the old AV Club” I have to wonder.
1) Boy that comment section brings back memories...where have you gone phel, TomWaits for Snowman, Diabeetus...
Looked up the original AVC coverage for this movie (https://film.avclub.com/jennifer-s-body-1798206973) and it was...not kind, is putting it lightly. Do you think those wildly diverging opinions are more about different tastes, or different expectations/attitudes going in?
