Just realized the same thing.   Largely avoiding Rafa on clay, along with adjusting his play to counter what Rafa tries to do to him, has turned the tide since 2017.

So, a 38 year old gets past Rafa Freaking Nadal in four sets to get to the Wimbledon final and the headline and story is about how Rafa played heroic points? And not a single highlight showing why Fed won? C’mon now.

This is one of Fed’s major adjustments the last few years. Rafa has been his kryptonite in large part because his high topspin forehand bounce puts the ball up in Roger’s strike zone and makes hitting that one hand backhand much harder. Roger intentionally began cheating up and taking balls on the rise in order to hit

I don’t think Rafa was thought of as the underdog at all coming into the match.   He’s pretty consistently owned Roger for awhile and other than a blip vs. Kyrgios was crushing guys in the earlier rounds.  And Roger is 38 (!).   To have a chance to win he had to do exactly what he did -- serve very well and attack.

It has been SO goddamn depressing lately. The absolute out in the open obstruction by Trump and his minions, just thumbing their collective nose at literally everything Congress tries in the way of oversight and investigation (and, Jeebus, CLOSED hearings? WTF?); the incompetence of the media in exposing all the lies;

Let me just say it is intensely satisfying that Grayson Allen is garbage trade fodder in only his second year, and will likely be on to his third team by year four, after which with any luck he’ll be playing in Turkmenistan. For all the attention and Mike Kriznowki love he got at Fucking Duke while repeatedly proving

The Wal-Mart is strong with that crowd.

On the one hand, he’s facing the dual problem of (a) a percentage that gave him a shot in 2016 having reached the point of wearily shaking their head in hard-earned recognition that everything he says is bullshit, and (b) an energized center and left similar to 2018. Both are very bad. Turning the gaslighting is one

+1....never mind.

It’s saddening, because I cheered for Hasay and Galen Rupp when they were Ducks (is he really 33 already?). Hasay took awhile to find her sweet spot after school, but Rupp was a generational talent even then. I think Salazar has the capacity to be innovative but he’s so arrogant it appears he thinks he can cross lines

Agreed in all points. The issue in 2014 was USATF, which is and has been a dumpster fire.

Edit: I spelled it wrong; she went by “Gabe”.

Remarkable, and amazing, that she had the strength and courage to compete at such a high level for so long while dealing with cancer.

Well, fair.

Mitch Haniger would also like his ball back.

I get the desire to point out his stupidity whenever possible, but....I mean, the point is made. Rafi is choir-preaching, and reaching to do so. We all know Trump has an incredibly limited vocabulary and often speaks incoherently. He’s an idiot. We get it. But he’s clearly been briefed by NASA on Mars mission

And social media and internet search history that’s a racist, misogynist, Qdiot conspiracy theory morass.

This is perhaps the most disheartening thing. Mrs. ND and I talk about this point all the time. So MANY of the people in this country — granted, in higher concentrations in some parts of the country (cough...deep South and rural west...cough) are this uninformed, misguided, gullible, brainwashed, and manipulated.

I’ve been wondering whether it’s cognitive dissonance or just galactic stupidity that leads to a bill proposing the death penalty for abortion providers.  I’m leaning toward the latter.

Came here to say essentially the same.  With his profile, his dick couldn’t reach the door to be slammed.
