I’m a volunteer first responder, not FF but in my county we have the same “pay” structure as they do. You don’t get paid but you do get reimbursement for certain things, including buying certain (very limited) gear items, mileage if you use your personal vehicle, per diem reimbursement on certain types of calls, etc.…

Damn. When I was a volunteer firefighter, I don’t think our chief even got paid, not even a pittance of a stipend. Back when volunteer meant volunteer, I guess.

Because this is the internet and everyone is very loving and trusting here, I’m going to come clean: I am a firefighter and, having just gotten my EVOC license and been cleared to drive, I just last week distinguished myself by driving the light rescue the wrong direction to go to a call.

I’m thankful for this stupidity. We all should be. I wish more were this damn dumb. Down the line, it may save our lives.

Personally, I watch a lot of Colbert! I just catch his stuff on YouTube (as I wager many do in his demo, but that doesn’t necessarily translate to Nielsen ratings). I think there’s room for more than one late show!

I’m in the beta program (and was when I wrote this post). There’s no 24/7 support. As I said in the article, there’s a support tab with links to help articles but there’s no option for phone or chat support as with the Pixel. This is on 7.1.1 on a 6P, build number NPF10C.
