I just remembered how famous this ad is, even outside NYC. There’s an entire Wikipedia entry for it!

Except I can’t remember ever hearing a joke that used the phrase “baking lessons,” or seeing a flier that offered “baking lessons”—or hearing that anyone has so much as considered charging for “baking lessons.” No, as far as I can tell, the most recognizable cliché available here—and by some margin, too—i.e., the one…
I still haven’t watched season 2, but I’m sorry to see Saved by the Bell go, and I hope Tracy Wigfield (who also did Great News) gets at least one more shot (preferably with John Michael Higgins). She deserves it.
Yeah, I’ve heard that song at CVS. I’m pretty sure they invented it.
Yeah, Thom McAn Coulter.
I’ve never been a big fan of his (and he’s done little lately to change my mind), but from what I can tell, he’s about as entitled to the term “genius” as plenty of other megastars—your Taylor Swifts or David Bowies or Princes or John Lennons or Madonnas, for example—though it certainly seems to me we’re generally…
If by “futility” you mean “wtf When You Dawes eat it, lol,” sure.
I want to say there’s no excuse for a shitty web player in 2022, but is it possible it’s a harder thing to pull off today than it used to be? Hulu, for example, used to work almost perfectly for me—I had way more problems with them as a subscriber in 2022 than I ever did watching ad-supported episodes of 30 Rock and Al…
Huh?
That’s interesting. But I don’t believe her character was 16, since she and Enid (Birch) graduate high school in the first scene (though Enid has to make up a class).
I’ve seen her in a few other movies over the years, of course, but I still mainly think of her as Thora Birch’s friend in Ghost World. Which is fine—that’s a pretty good movie. But I’d argue her character was only marginally sexier than Steve Buscemi’s.
I’m a lifelong New Yorker, and if you’d asked me, I might’ve guessed “Price Chopper” was a generic TV show store name (which was also true of Stop & Stop until about a decade ago). I don’t think there are any in the city, and I don’t recall noticing any in Hudson Valley, either. (I’m aware of Shop-Rite, and I know…
...to paraphrase Erné “Schrödinger” Descartes.
Because he didn’t have the decency to leave an audiobook version?
And wasn’t he also the King of Kong, Chuck Norris?
As Jalopnik says, she’s “standard generic”—which (let’s be clear) is an awfully good look for an actress of her considerable versatility. And, yeah—given that range? Hoo boy, can she act pretty!
Yeah...it felt like a bit of a stretch to me. But apparently Penguin is no stranger to graphic novels—
Not if we’re going by their website archives (although it looks like Bradlees had an exclusive Michael Bolton release):
Pff, that’s so passé. Darryl called him “WiJo,” and he seemed to be getting by.
No disrespect to John Carpenter, but this is my favorite Halloween movie, and I almost wish they’d done the usual string of sequels. (I guess it might have been a struggle coming up with fresh traditions to be violated. But even de-emphasizing that aspect, I’d say it’s a pretty solid template.)
