Want to back my screenplay?

It’s about a semi-depressed young man, who actually has a pretty decent job, but still feels hollow on the inside. He meets a cute yet quirky girl who he falls in love with and together they solve his problems with life.

No doubt someone somewhere will make an argument this is somehow feminist and empowering, as seems to happen with literally anything Kim does.

What’s inheritance?

No, the airplane can take off just fine and United can find another way to solve their personnel problem rather than making it their customers’ problem. They just didn’t want to. And it cost them $800 million in valuation today, so obviously they chose wrong.

I am confused as to why he was issued a boarding pass and seated - then the airline decided it needed 4 seats for employees. I don’t picture the said employees running to the gate yelling “stop the plane, we need to board” How far in advance did United know it had a seat problem -I’m betting it was before passengers

he did put himself above everyone else on that plane

I’ve been saying this since news first broke out of this. In a reasonable world it would have worked out like this:

I can’t remember which airline it was - I’m leaning towards it being American, as they were who usually did the first leg of my journey - but I was bumped off a flight to JFK from DC due to overbooking two days before Christmas several years back. Obviously at that time of year, everyone is desparate to get home on

And we’re slipping further and further towards a corporate-government future with every day. It has nothing to do with the current climate except that the wealthy have been playing this long-game for three-hundred years at least.

They don’t need to get him off the plane. They (arguably, because it was their own people who needed accommodation) needed someone off the plane. Bodily removing a passenger should not be on the list of options unless the passenger is themselves violent or a danger to others.

Guess who did get priority? The gold members of United travel program.

As long as it’s not ME being dragged off that plane. Because, hey, it never will be.... right? RIGHT?!

Somewhere, Eli Gold’s head is exploding.

Until one of them finds out that that was THEIR doctor, and how dare he reschedule them because he’s on “VACATION”, doesn’t he know that they had to rearrange THEIR schedules to make this appointment happen??

I’m on several job posting lists. No joke, this morning I got a job opening ad for a public relations specialist for United. I can only hope it’s because United’s entire department threw their hands up and quit yesterday.

Does United not have a single PR person? Someone, anyone who could put some platitudes on cue cards and shove this guy in front of the camera? One of the cops is already being investigated, how hard would it be for United to do the whole we are deeply disturbed by the incident and will look into itsong and dance?

Between the 1800's and 1900's, the only Asians allowed in western/”white” countries were the men, as long as they were hard laborers, and women, as long as they were prostitutes. Asian men weren’t allowed to bring their wives, because whites didn’t want Asian families around. So they had no choice but to die alone

You make a good point. All the behemoths have helped decimate the mom and pop stores. We choose Target over Wal Mart, but they are part of that machine too. I respect that not everyone can afford anything more than Wal-Mart or a Dollar Store. (Damn I love my Dollar Tree!) I mean, who am I to judge when I use Amazon

Varies by small town, I guess.

I grew up in a rural town - the nearest Walmart was 30 minutes away on the highway. You had to drive 2 hours over a mountain (not always passable in the winter) to get to a mall. There was definitely an element of privilege and wealth for the people who could afford to buy non Walmart clothing.
