Did you actually see Spy? Because I thought most of the jokes were actually that people expected her to be that big, doofusy clutz, but that she actually was a very good spy and was only being held back by how people perceived her (see, every single action scene in that film).

I love Precious, the books and the sadly foreshortened series, so I feel obliged to point out that she did, indeed, get involved in “big drama” mysteries, including organized crime, but that these stories were handled slowly and carefully over the course of a book, and so they seem lower-drama than they actually were.

All the love for the daring Miss Fischer, though throughout three seasons of the show, I feel like her backstory has changed about 100 times (like when they allude she grew up on the streets but also somehow her father is a baron? But also he’s a carshark and a cad? But also she was an orphan? And where did she learn

After sitting through the panel and watching the creators repeatedly shuffle around the suggestion of “aliens” or “maybe something else...” My prediction is that it’s an Artificial Intelligence attempting to protect humans from themselves. I think the aliens idea is a red-herring meant to distract the audience so that

Oh my gosh, one of my favorite Comic-Con moments this year. There was a panel for a new show, Colony, before Orphan Black. Colony has the same creators/show runners as Lost. As we watched Colony footage, I lean over to my husband and say, “Sorry, I’m not watching another show where they haven’t done any planning, or

I know, I can’t imagine a much bigger one. I was in the basement of Stadium High School at the time (dating myself, here) and when you start to see concrete floors ripple like water, it gives you a new perspective on life.

Question: The article clearly states that people in the PNW don’t feel earth quakes on a regular basis like in Japan, and on my first read-through, makes it sound like there haven’t been any significant quakes in recent history. In 2001, there was the Nisqually Quake, which was 6.8/6.9. I lived there at the time and

The Orphan Black panel was amazing. Fun, engaging, like being a room listening to your favorite actors telling funny stories and goofing around. Gravity Falls was also a great panel. They opened with a quick spoiler-filled montage that basically answered the main mystery of the last two seasons (this is great, because

I agree - Mr. Robot is in Elliot’s mind. Consider that there are things he should have known but didn’t - the video threat from FSociety, for example. He seems to have memory gaps - that implies the other personality is taking over.

I think probably the hacking crew is real, but Christian Slater is not. I’m on the

This! Since more and more clothing has been sent to be mass-produced, it’s being designed to have fewer and straighter seams. And while they might not produce more size 0s in terms of mass-production quantity, as someone mentioned in this thread, the producers are going to *advertise* these fashions on size 0s because

My main takeaway from this is that the HUGO awards do not have a fair or consistent judging process if it can be so easily ganked either direction and thus the awards have lost all credibility. Though then again, I feel that way about most award shows, including the Oscars and whatnot, so my overall opinion is

This is exactly what happened in my head-cannon. Bruce gets a vasectomy exactly so nothing like this can ever happen. Who needs baby-seed when there’s Amanda Waller, ready to create a half-clone from all that DNA you left “lying around”?

That’s a fair point. I just worry the general public read/watch his science-paranoia and come away with the idea that there’s something to be afraid of in every new technological advance or that all scientists are cowboys intent on destroying humanity with their hubris.

Wow, I’m so impressed by this. What great work! I’m still puzzling over how he did the spin-motion with the blades, etc. I can’t make my toys hold on to anything properly.

Let me guess, a technological innovation that seems initially wonderful turns out to have horrifying, unintended consequences? I really enjoyed Crichton when I was a kid, but at a certain point the formula grew old, and I wondered what kind of message he was trying to send about science. It’s one thing to talk about

It’s been an interesting assortment, for me. I mostly get passive-aggressive comments from women my own age who did change their names, telling me “I’ll regret it someday.” Then my dad has a really hard time with the concept. He hasn’t said anything, but he always addresses letters and everything to Mrs.

I’m stumped by this, too! My husband’s last name doesn’t work well with my first name, hyphenating is too long, and he doesn’t want to give up his cultural heritage with his name. I also want to keep my last name for various reasons.

I’ve been before and had a great time, just this year the schedule is a little bit of a let-down since previous years have seemed so awesome in comparison and always had at least one thing I was disappointed to be missing out on. It’s like, “Drat. Of course the year I finally get tickets...” I’m sure something will

I have mixed feelings. The past three years I really wanted to go to Comic-Con, but had a work conflict every year. It’s also the first time in years I managed to score tickets, which is, I know, amazingly lucky. But so far, none of the potential panels are hitting me as desirable, and there are no toy exclusives I’m

This is very true. I’m at various stages with this for most of my fandoms. I’m going through a bad breakup with PonyIsland and coming to acceptance with letting Supernatural go. I still love my Batman collection, but I’m resigned to no longer adding anything new to it.

Now we just need a support group for those looking
