The AV Club

American Sniper is the first R-rated movie to be the No. 1 movie of the year since Saving Private Ryan topped 1998 sixteen years ago. It has also made six and a half times as much as Selma, almost thirteen times as much as Boyhood and almost thirty times as much as Whiplash.

I gotta say, I find the recurring Tumblr bashing on this site is kind of…peculiar. I'm not saying it's a 100% perfect site, but none is (even The AV Club had it's Sluggo phase), and I know a lot of awesome people who find that place to be a much needed creative and social outlet. I'm not saying you have to personally

YES!! Lumpy The Mournful Wookie is available as a band name! My band is officially a-go!

The ironic part being that the scene in the teaser was poorly executed in the movie itself since there was this overbearing score playing over the entire sequence.

American Sniper is now the highest grossing movie from 2014, edging out The Hunger Games: Mockingjay: Part One to make $337 million. Amazingly, the film, in it's eleventh week in release is still making money, and will likely squeak past $350 million by the end of it's run.

I'm planning on seeing Chappie tonight, and reading this makes me happy. I'll probably have the whole Cinemark auditorium to myself!

It doesn't help that they doubled down on the racist robotic caricatures and gave the world…THE TWINS.

DETECTIVE CHIMP

Two pieces of awesome casting news for the price of one! The Hollywood Reporter just announced that Jeremy Renner will star in the newest film from Denis (Prisoners, Enemy) Villeneuve with Amy Adams. To boot, they also gave the first official confirmation about Renner starring in Captain America: Civil War. Excelsior

Alright alright, I can see you've played knifey spooney before.

I'm so mad this anti-violence organization has had to cease activity! LETS BREAK THINGS!!!

Hell yeah on Noah! One of my favorites from last year! I'd also toss in other 2014 favorites of mine like Love Is Strange, The Skeleton Twins and Whiplash if you haven't seen them yet.

I'm really hoping this focuses on a new group of toys, something that's kinda sort of implied through those statements. I really don't want more feature length extensions of Buzz and Woody.

It's up there. Spider-Man 2, The first Iron Man, The Avengers, The Dark Knight and Guardians of The Galaxy are kind of tied in terms of quality for best superhero film.

It's kind of interesting to look at the position FOX is currently in. Empire and The Last Man On Earth are pretty big hits for them, but they've numerous duds on the network, enough so that I think they're gonna cancel a bunch of shows (like The Following, Sleepy Hallow and Bones) and do a bit of an overhaul of the

Rock Band 4 got made before Hellboy 3.

MY BODY IS READY JOSS

I choo-choose Black Widow.

I've had dreams like this trailer. Specifically that incredible shot at 1:08.
