No, your friend can play digitally. Everytime you use a new physical ship, you unlock a digital duplicate in-game. Your coop partner can play digitally while you play physically. You don’t need a second mount, you don’t even need a second ship.

So, wait--in order to play local co-op, you need to buy a peripheral that isn’t available at launch, and potentially requires a second pair of joy-cons in the Switch version?

People are complaining about all these ports, but I don’t see the problem when many are ports of games that were exclusive to an unpopular dead console, or were exclusive to other consoles. This is awesome.

You realize the beta was dumbed down so that people who had never played the game could succeed right? Just like every other video game, the ai ramps up and the difficulty increases as you progress.
