I don't think an episode has underwhelmed me like "Asylum of the Daleks." I was all for the premise and I liked the Oswin scenes, but otherwise, it was just Meh from start to finish.

Do not skip season 6. Season 6 is awesome. Season 7, on the other hand, can be pretty much skipped except for "Angels in Manhattan," and that's not because it's a good episode, but because it gives closure to some of the characters.

Clara seemed alright, which automatically makes her better than Martha. But it's going to be very hard to top Amy/Rory/Rose who are kinda tied for my favorites.
