Not sure where you live, but being stopped at a light doesn’t mean you have all the room in the world to change lanes if someone’s about to rear end you. I’ve seen this logic a few times replied to me & that’s the only conclusion I can draw.

We’re you stopped at a light? I follow your logic but if I’m stopped at a light, there’s usually not enough room to make an emergency lane change that would be necessary in the situation you described.
