A lot of people can hide their problems from others pretty well. While I was in law school, one of the professors committed suicide by jumping off a building. She was a universally loved member of the faculty, and highly respected in the legal community, and no one had a clue about her depression.
The first person I thought of when sources began to talk about suicide was Robin Williams, and how very few people knew that he was diagnosed with an incurable and degenerative illness (Lewy body dementia). It’s not rare that people receive that kind of diagnosis and chooses to end their lives on their own terms…
