Basically all the songs are like this: six or seven minutes long, super duper corny, and good as hell.
I think Ellefson was a huge part of that too. Not just the riffs, but they had some amazing bass under all of it. Cliff was fantastic of course, Newsted and Trullio are good in their own rights, but Dave Ellefson is amazing.
As a Wings fan, I think I can safely say we’d be bad in either conference.

Oh no doubt. My point was that the US wanted to put together a gritty, defensive team that could maybe grind out a 1-0 or 2-1 win over Canada. There’s no doubt Canada is the more skilled team even if USA had their best.
The NHL has fundamentally changed since even that time. Plus the Kings were almost as boring as the 90s/2000s Devils teams.

I think the plan was to out-grit Canada and eek out a victory that way. Sadly, and shockingly, it turns out skill and ability to score goals is more important.
It was more a legacy of the 1996 team which beat Canada for the World Cup. A team that was also very “gritty”, in the form of guys like Chelios, Hatcher(s), Tkachuk, and Suter.
