For starters, I found that when I ran the recommended pressures on my snow tires, the center of the tires wore meaning the pressure was too high and the center of the tire made the most contact. I started running those at 34 psi, below the recommended 37 psi. For the wider summer tires, I started at 34 like the snows,

I can fit 17's on my MK7 with the larger brakes, those are the winter tires and between the softer rubber and 1 more inch of sidewall, they were much nicer than the stock 18's. Then I bent one of those ugly stock wheels and got the APR flow forged 18's. But those are 1" wider, so I went with a slightly wider tire

Simple, they have the largest bank account.

Honestly, it’ll probably help the engineers and designers as solid proof... or at least anyone in the legal department that might not want to spend time attempting to defend why the car design causes accidents.

Which 3 people think 1) that’s a nice price and 2) have such awful taste that they’d plunk down $11,500 dollars for a gawdy Fiero with dull paint?

Buttons, knobs, switches with different sizes, shapes and even tactile feel should be used for everything you might want to adjust more than once per drive.

While it’s nice that a very specific study was done for cars, a quick look into a textbook I keep in my office with the title “Fitting The Task To The Human” (Kroemer and Grandjean, 5th edition, 2001) in the chapter Human-Machine Systems reads “There is abundant literature dealing with the ergonomic design and layout

There’s some ass-clown in my town that went over the top with said fart can and some “tuning”. The thing must be running SUPER rich so he/she/it needs to let it run near red-line which makes the exhaust super hot... and then it continually backfires. Not like popping from a race engine that’s tuned for that sort of

Knowing lots of people who have the “Loud Pipes Save Lives” motto stickered on shit and also being a bassist with multiple big rigs, I have this on some of my gear and my car in sticker form, the patches on some work shirts:

I do say, the purple fanny pack makes that outfit... question my sanity. Go-go boots, purple vinyl fanny pack, sparkly top, hot pants, fishnets and pink feather head thing... it’s like a mash up of so many different era’s of Vegas dancing girl outfits just puked that up.

Says the guy who posts a picture of Judge Dredd...

Years ago I worked onsite at a BIG personal care company as a contractor. The company tried to make everyone feel welcome and was pretty forward about inclusion. I’m white and had come from a large state University where such inclusion was also the norm.

That really depends on how sleazy the people in charge of compliance are. EPA fined Hamilton Sundstrand in CT $12 million back in the early oughts for pretty much the same thing.

Agreed... not too many options available to actually make the car much different from the next one you see. Actually, not much out there yet from anyone.

Well, he does drive a BMW... so let’s assume he uses them ‘frequently’, for a BMW driver, that’s really not often.

My wife saw the aftermath of a Ford Explorer rear ending a Mercedes sedan like 15 years ago. Ford driver was being stuffed into a bus after getting extricated while the Mercedes driver walked around talking on his cell phone.

Yeah, but depending on battery management, it may mean more power, especially if they build it as AWD.  At the very least, it means I won’t need to plug it back in until it’s parked at the tire shop as they’re replacing the still smoking tires.

Oh the thoughts in my head now... pretty sure you could pull that off with a 60 kWh battery pack to keep the weight down too.  More than 60 kWh in such a small package... Sweet Jesus... just think of how quickly it would go through tires!  You would need to dress up like Immorten Joe just so you could breathe through

My first trip on a highway in the early part of the pandemic scared the shit out of me. I normally hit the on ramp, get up to speed to merge with moving traffic and as I’m doing that the dash alarm goes off letting me know I’m exceeding 85 mph... And I was still on the ramp as cars are literally blowing by me. No cops

Having been passed by a car doing 150-ish, I can say that when doing the speed limit, you can check your mirrors frequently and it won’t matter much.  When that approaching vehicle is going almost 3 times faster than everything around you... you just don’t expect that on a regular highway or street.
