Until the pandemic, I frequently traveled long distances. This was before the MLB app was available. Between the music channels, sports and Howard Stern, I’ve enjoyed having the options at my fingertips (literally, the buttons are on the steering wheel) over phone based options that typically require some form of cell

Had a 2010 Jetta, I just kept a bunch of replacements in the trunk.  When any bulb would go dark, I’d replace them all... if none of them went, I’d replace them all every spring.

I’ve been working the entire time as well. When the first big ‘stay at home’ ended last year, it was totally obvious where I live that someone opened up the doors and no one remembered how to drive. For almost two whole weeks I kept my head on a swivel and one hand on the horn. People forgetting what lane they were

Ugh... why would they do that?  I’m over here trying to figure out where I can store drums of racing fuel.

My wife borrowed my GTI last week and bitched that she couldn’t get the Yankees game on the AM radio.  OK... sure, that’s kinda why we have Sirius-XM though.  Regardless of what kind of antenna you have on your vehicle, unless you’re far enough away from power lines, you still get interference and static when you

It’s almost even easier than that, if you’re running a higher performance motor the owner’s manual will flat out tell you that you must run XX Octane or higher. My GTI has the note in the manual and there are additional warnings on the gas cap. Running cheap gas will cause issues in that car.

Your point is that drivers suck at driving so we should not allow non-motor vehicles on the road? Yeah, that’s a great point. A better point to make would be to increase driver training and licensing, not restrict access to motor vehicles only.

Can’t star your comment... which means I probably can’t reply either.

Go look at it on Google street view and get back to us with your apology. Road is wide as hell with clear, unobstructed views AND it has a designated bike lane that’s almost as wide as some actual rural roads I’ve been on. The driver of the vehicle must have been blind drunk at 10 am and/or attempting to run her over.

Open the hood on a warm day, stick yer sniffer in there and follow it. I found oil in the EGR system which then gets all over the inside of the intake system. I debated removing it all and cleaning it out (then running a catch can) but that’s a LOT of work.

Fine genius, it was probably a 13 KV line she grabbed onto.  Thanks for shitting on my doctoral thesis, didn’t think we needed to get too deep into how high voltage transmission lines work.  Considering the amount of time she was connected to the line, you’re right, almost no power loss was seen through the human body

Now playing

Yeah, that only applies to DC voltage, DC contracts the muscles while AC (alternating) opens and closes them. So if you’re a musician playing out and you want to make sure the PA system and your guitar are not going to kill you

Former TDI owner, condition of the interior is ugh, no sunroof is a big minus... throw on top of all of that the typical diesel stench* that comes from under the hood of a medium to high mileage TDI and it’s a big nope unless you are in need of a car that’ll happily drive you over 75 miles a day. If your commute is

Well you wouldn’t, but go visit some time. Because of all of the snow in the winter, the road clearing and salt destroys the road surface. The first time I went there I asked the locals when Canada invaded because it looks like every street has mortar damage due to potholes from all the salt and plow damage.

Well yeah, all of our beaches are on Long Island Sound... and at least half of that body of water is still listed as dangerously eutrophic. So they’re full of rocks, no real waves and from New Haven to the NY border, the water is shit.

I’m going to vote for Rhode Island. I have no idea what they do with the money for building and maintaining roads other than not using it for building and maintaining roads.

Nope, I’m in Connecticut and any time you hit the Rhode Island border from any bloody direction you know it. There’s still a TON of corruption over there and it shows every time you drive there.

Uh, yeah, because all the ‘proof’ was kept secret so no one actually knows what they did. So if it wasn’t ‘illegal’ and was just a ‘loophole’, then why did the FIA keep the entire thing under wraps and not share it with anyone else?

From my understanding of the rules changes coming in the future, that’s kind of where they’re going with the aero packages. Less downforce and certain parts will be spec.

I absolutely love videos of people using a regular shop vac on flammable liquids.
