This was my exact take. If there is no rust beyond what is visible, ditch the truck engine and upgrade to a BEAMs 3S-GE. 210BHP N/A/High redline would be absolute perfection in this vehicle.

I’m a 3S-GTE man - always have been. That being said, my first Celica was an ‘81 GT with the 22R and I know that engine will never be enough for me in any chassis. It just has zero balls. I’m also not a 2JZ guy so I doubt I would ever perform that swap on this car.
