One things I have long done is used a very wide vocabulary for describing how I feel. For example, I learned a whole bunch of words that could all come under the umbrella of “feeling upset”. First I used them with myself, working out which feeling really felt like which word, until my feeling were labelled properly

I did not even know you could opt out. We live in MS and our one school-aged child goes to one of the few highly rated school districts in the state. We just started CC this year and the number of standardized tests this year (3rd grade) is way higher than last year. I have to roll my eyes at it all, but I did know it

This is amazing! I wish MLB had taken some cues from hurling on how to speed up the game and make it more interesting. I'm now sad I've never come across this on ESPN's 53rd channel dedicated to sports-you-never-heard-of when I have insomnia.

"People need to hold hands across America" - As a child of the 80s, thank you so much for that!

Ah, man, I hate halogen headlights. They ruin your night vision too. How did they even become legal?!

Hmm, yes. But marking foods that are otherwise gluten free as GLUTEN FREE because people don't know exactly what they should or shouldn't purchase after an initial diagnosis is...fine? I mean, I haven't seen a huge mark up on Rice Krispies in my area, they're still the same price (taking into account the price

We drove a few hours to visit family and had to stop for gas about halfway. Where we live they put a $1US precharge, the same where our family lives. But at the Chevron halfway to our destination they put a $250US precharge on there and it stayed for several days. We only went down for the weekend and then my husband

And in developing countries, default to using your right hand for everything. The left hand being dirty or evil was a surprisingly global idea.

You know, on my Droid X I could swipe right for Archive and swipe left for Delete. Then I switched to Galaxy S3 and I can’t do it anymore. I didn’t download any super special app, and I was just using the gmail app that comes on the phone. :( It was a great feature.

Because I like rice?

Yeah, they should be using a Duraflex Picardie glass. Ugh.

If you're gonna punch *down*, you better be aiming for Hammond's face.

Does this waffle maker have shallow indentations? I ask because the waffles I grew up with didn't have the deep indentations and it was much easier to spread the butter, syrup, etc. around. Seems like all the waffle makers now have deep impressions, whether or not they are marketed as Belgian waffle makers.

That's okay if you don't believe me. I tend to be real skeptical of others on the internet too. :)

Just cut out all introductory filler words: so, actually, obviously, like, um,well, etc. At first you'll be weirdly hissing at people, so it's best to retrain yourself in informal situations with friends. It will naturally migrate into your professional life.

Count me as one of the snobs who will never buy raw denim as long as regular denim is for sale, but I starred this post just for his recommendation that raw-wearers wash their jeans sometimes. I appreciate his relative voice of sanity.

"What do you mean not educational?! This is Microsoft! Microsoft is about education! I come here to learn!" [She was part of our personal training program]. "Do you know Blackjack? Solitaire? These games are educational! They teach me how to count! This is a terrible game!"

Me too, everytime. Even though by now I've read enough of Kotaku to know what it is, there's always that initial moment of "what? that doesn't make any sense."

Yeah, we have "fresh" blueberry pie every year at Christmas. When we have people over during the holidays, they go crazy when they learn they can have a slice of summer. Also blueberry pancakes whenever we want them. It's the best Saturday morning breakfast on a miserable wet January day.

That's going to happen to some degree no matter what, but my guess is that she is not leaving enough space between the berries/slices for them to freeze quickly. The more crowded they are (or, worst, if she puts them all in a bag and thinks laying it flat on its side is enough) the longer it will take them to freeze.
