Well yeah that’s the joke...

“Either they just showed Chris Pratt’s death in the trailer or they’re or going to have one hell of a dumb explanation as to why his lungs weren’t instantly burned out.”

Well pretty much EVERYTHING in writing is a trope, so yeah it is. But it is a pretty crappy one that seems mostly used in films/TV to explain why an actor didn’t return or in this case to generate “Drama™”

So I wasn’t the only one who used the upside down trick! haha

Goyer does suck mightily and I’ve been on that train for years, but I think the only thing we need to know about Blade: Trinity is Ryan Reynolds mostly did it as a Deadpool audition reel.

I legit thought they were going to accidentally fire the gun

Young Justice designs had really great balance in general. I wish more creatives took pointers from that show’s lead designer Phil Bourassa. Almost all the DCEU and even some MCU stuff has looked way too clunky.

Outside of the WotC run ones like @Wizards_DnD and @DnDBeyond there’s a lot of different ones. @MattColville (and specifically his youtube vids about running D&D 5e) is very informative. @WebDM also is a fun feed to follow and they host like a D&D weekly topic show that’s always entertaining and insightful. An ongoing

What’s worse is I follow a lot of D&D twitter feeds so it doesn’t get any less confusing for me

Actually Gazillion’s bankers/investors pulled out for the same reason Disney did - they needed to get far enough of a distance from Gazillion’s CEO’s legal issues. That’s Gazillion just folded. Everyone doing damage control to stay away from an alleged molester.

That’s not how writing works. Smart characters, making smart, realistic choices heighten the drama by creating more believable touchstones for the audience so that when, it the case of Alien, the creature does eventually nab the smart scientist it demonstrates just how vicious, intelligent or unknowable the creature

What is with the resurgence of the The Last Starfighter genre thing? This, the awful book being turned into a movie, every fantasy anime in the last 5 years. “You were good at a video game - you’re the savior!”

Baron Mordo is most definitely a villain in the comics. There’s also the after credits scene in Doctor Strange that shows he’s taken to the path of villainy if not then as a definite antagonist who despises those who use magic.

Yeah, due to being grey on io9 I did point out in a thread that he’s a great performer regardless. It’s the perception of his appearances in genre film sci-fi/action stuff where he plays a villain that he’s typecast but he does have a wider breadth of roles. Personally I’ll watch anything he’s in he’s so magnetic.

This is more a perception based on larger genre movie appearances like Serenity (2005), Four Brothers (05 again) and Children of Men (2006) when I first got to know him as an actor he was often the villain.

Yes! He was great in Redbelt! Glad someone else has seen it.

I remember when I was like, “Hey, Disney! I want Chiwetel Ejiofor to play Dr. Strange! I’m tired of him being the villain all the time!”

“Magneto” likely refers to the divisive Ep 7 where Eleven meets the other girl with psionic powers. The episode has an extremely similar scene that seems lifted from the 2011 prequel movie X-Men First Class where Professor X teaches Magneto how to use his powers by focusing on his emotions.

To be fair as someone who HAS had Electro-convulsive Therapy (ECT aka “shock treatment”) I find shitty pop culture things remain while a lot of stuff like the spiraling depression and mental breakdown tend to go. Which is the point, but I do kinda wish Star War Ep III went with it.
