I can’t help but think that if we were talking about a man who: rose to the very top of a brutal industry and was making a fuck ton of money by employing a wildly successful business strategy, AND seemed like mostly a nice person who did nice things for which his fans love him AND gave a shit ton of money to charity

Manipulative for sure. And I feel like we can’t discount the fact that at the time, Kanye was still at the top of his game. He hadn’t yet had his onstage rants and meltdowns*. He was one of the most powerful men in music and Taylor, while obviously very powerful too, had really just truly broken into pop music.

Thank you for articulating this in a way I could not. I feel like she honestly and rightfully was super pissed about the “I made that bitch famous” line because, as you said, it’s belittling (not to mention false — hey Kanye, she was up there winning Video of the Year at the MTV awards). And coupled with the preceding

Fucking THANK YOU. She absolutely didn’t clear him making a replicate of her naked body and placing it in bed alongside a replica of his body (with her naked top half showing); and she’s not the only woman he did it too, either. Why does no one care about this??

The point is to have precedent on charges regarding actions before he was a Senator. Sure, the expulsion clause is vague as all get-out and says the Senate can expel a Senator for anything they want as long as they have 2/3 votes, but if they’ve done something to another Senator before for something they did before he

1. The Senate Ethics Committee is a joke. Franken’s willingness to cooperate is pure political theatre. Don’t buy into it.

This is getting beyond ridiculous.

I got $5 on Alabama.

I imagine Darren would respond to a breakup the same way here responded to the critics who hated Mother.

I agree with you. I can’t get on the hate-Taylor bandwagon. She happens to be an extremely talented artist and businesswoman. I love her music.

But Reputation is already the best selling album of 2017 (in a week, no less) and her first single went to #1. She’s already out of the hole.

Waiting for a republican state senator to suggest virginity tests for female recipients of government aid. My money is on Missouri.

If you count digital penetration as a way to lose your virginity (it can certainly break a hymen), it’s kind of ironic that that the very test they use to detect virginity is also in some respects taking it away.

The hymen is the most misunderstood part of human anatomy.

I feel like the actual terrible thing was the naked dolls in that Famous video. It’s so weird and violating. Yet rarely discussed.

Hazel - I must respectfully disagree. This album is VERY sexy. As proof, I cite the many orgasms I’ve enjoyed while listening to Dress, I Did Something Bad, Delicate, Don’t Blame Me, and Gorgeous, and the corroborating testimony of my previously TS-skeptical boyfriend!

Once country realized they could pull pop money by appealing to the masses, it was over. Which is a shame, because there’s always been a ton of talent, singing, instrumental, and songwriting, in the genre, but now it’s all “hey pretty girl in the bikini top and painted on cut-offs, come dance in the back of my truck

Ughhhh.

I love Taylor Swift, but this is accurate.

Maybe it has nothing whatsoever to do with music and everything to do with brand. Swift doesn’t have any opinions on Trump for the same reason that she keeps her songs in both genres. She moves with the zeitgeist, and wants to stay agile.
