God I hope not, I need my Colbert to deal with this fucked up world. It’s what my wife and I watch while we eat since it’s one things that never turns our stomachs.

Or Colbert! I need his monologue. If you don’t watch it, check it out. He is able to both share information about how shitty things are and help make it manageable at the same time. Really has helped with my depression.

I would be extremely disheartened but also very surprised if John Oliver has done anything like this. I feel like it was probably hard enough for him to approach the woman who is now his wife, much less assault someone else.

Everything about that process is intentional and shame on congress for giving it a pass.

It’s at the point where whenever I see the name of a male celebrity my heart skips a beat. Even if it’s not in the context of a sexual abuse scandal it’s still unnerving.

I hope not, but fear you may be correct. I hope that the men getting called out expands to include other industries than media also.

This just made me think, “Oh, no, I hope John Oliver hasn’t done anything, but he probably has!”. At least Samantha Bee probably hasn’t sexually harassed anyone. I hope.

And does mediation actually work to resolve sexual harassment in the workplace? None of this process seems to have the safety of the person reporting at the center of it.

When has a guy ever let a woman know he genuinely cares about by springing out at her naked? It doesn’t happen. This isn’t about seduction. It’s about mistaking someone’s powerlessness in a situation for his own sexual prowess. It’s abusive and pathetic.

How many men that I have admired are going to turn out to be predators?

After the complaint has been processed, there are 30 days of mandatory counseling—for the victim.

I think this is exactly what makes it so bad - I tried to think, when that story broke, what would I do if someone accused my brother, for example, of sexual assault even though I have zero evidence that he is a predator of any type. It’s a difficult thought experiment because a male friend, no matter how long-term -

But I am not sure how she was supposed to react to this if she thought her friend was a good person who couldn’t possibly do this.

You don’t have to believe it, but you can issue a more nuanced public statement. As in “We are deeply disturbed to hear about y. I consider x a friend, and my experience with him has led me to believe that he would not act in this way, but I also believe it is important to listen to people when they come forward, and

I commented on a panic piece about how, with Franken, we were coming close to overdoing the #metoo moment by saying “No, we’re not, and you can’t cherry-pick who you want to believe.” I immediately received dozens of men’s comments accusing me of saying it was just as bad as what Moore and Trump did (never would say

Right? Anytime Jez gets in the news, I feel inordinately proud & proprietary— as though I had anything to do with it. “Hey! Hey! My site! I go there! I write comments anonymously there! Them’s my girls!!” *lol*

If you look closely at the clip, Megyn is whispering something in Bobby’s ear when she hugs him. I slowed the footage down and read her lips. She said “fucking stop the fucking column or I’ll fucking kill your immediate family.”

Or if we had been invited as the audience to witness Bobby’s ascendence to the co-host of Megyn Kelly Today.

It could only have been better if Megyn called him out and asked to fight him right there on stage, Jerry Springer-style.

This is probably the most satisfying conclusion to a column.
