The loose thread on Walter's porkpie hat…

Vince Gilligan was on Conan O'Brien last night and aired a new scene from an upcoming episode. The new scene starts at the 2:47 mark and runs until 3:47, so you can watch it or avoid it depending on your opinion on spoilers. http://www.youtube.com/watc…

He's already betrayed his commitment to them repeatedly.  But he hasn't lost his love for them…yet.

He was actually denied it because it was too flashy a purchase. I don't deny that Walt bought the car again out of hubris and a desire to manipulate his son, but Jr. dying in it would be a pretty tangential relation. Teenage boys drive like idiots, even when their fathers don't buy them flashy cars.

I think the ticking of the clock in the living room and then the faster ticking of the watch were both meant to signify that Walt's time is running out, as well as to make us recall Mikes "you're a time bomb speech", but I don't think it was meant to be specifically connected to Jesse.
