New P-car prices are really too high for most of the youngs. Used Porsche FTW!
Fun fact about the 986/996: You can remove both headlight assemblies in less than 60 seconds. Probably 30 seconds if you try for speed.
A very smart thing to do when you pay off your truck: Keep the truck and put the amount of the payments into savings or investment. Never have the debt-monkey on your back again. Eventually you’ll need to to buy a new vehicle and you can use your savings to pay for it, in cash. No car loans, ever again.
Yep, the rule with convertibles is to leave them unlocked. Replacing the top after it’s been vandalized is way too expensive to risk. You can keep any valuables in the trunk, if it has a separate lock that can’t be opened from inside the car. You still might find some dude asleep in the passenger seat some morning, tho…
Hey, Jason, can you put up a poll, kind of like Nice Price or No Dice? But more like this:
I agree. I wish Tesla and SpaceX great success, but I’ll be glad when Musk is out of the picture. He can’t seem to control his mouth or his Twitter fingers, and that’s pretty low bar for a CEO of a major corporation.
The New York Post? That’s Rupert Murdock’s sensationalist tabloid that’s been called “a force for evil.”
Your house plumbing has vent stacks poking up through the roof and these are potential lightning targets. The vents are connected to the waste pipes, eventually leading to the sewage system or septic tank.
A single example, you say?
Just read about that 40% claim the other day, and it’s really cherry-picked. The main problem is that it’s only federal income taxes, only about half of the taxes paid. It doesn’t include payroll taxes, or state income, property, gas, sales, or other taxes.
I have never, ever changed the oil in my server.
I think the best way to look at it is the net effect. Yes, it is climate tourism. Racing pollutes. Elizabeth flying to Greenland pollutes. Taking a trip to visit a melting iceberg pollutes.
Make that, queen Batshit Stupid.
Yep, all true. Convertible hard tops have some disadvantages, like more weight, mechanical complexity, and taking up more space. But ragtops have lots of drawbacks, too: they’re expensive to replace (and you will have to replace it), you really need to mostly park them indoors, you’ve got to be careful where you park…
Agree. You can recline carefully and politely, and get a tiny scrap of comfort. Sitting ramrod upright gets downright painful after an hour or so.
Even some non-EV cars have a similar issue. I just bought a used Boxster, and one of the first things a wrencher should do is reroute the front manual release cable to the towing bolt hole. Otherwise, if you get stuck with a dead battery, you can’t get to your battery or your tool bag. You have to somehow remove the…
Thank you for this. I downloaded Parable of the Sower and I’m really enjoying it. She was a wonderful SF author, and her writing from the perspective of a Black woman is a refreshing change from the usual.
1st Gear: It would be a lot smarter to legislate the real goal of carbon-neutral vehicles. Requiring a specific technology rules out other solutions that might be as good or better. Porsche/Siemens eFuel? Hydrogen? Mr. Fusion? Who cares, as long as it works. Leave the door open for other options.
So if I’ve got a Tesla tailgating me, can I pop up an octagon “stop” sign in my back window and make the Tesla autopilot hit the brakes? Sounds like fun!
