I’m OK with just “fine” purely technical graphics specs. You’re right, pokemon doesn’t need 4K, HDR, DLSS, etc etc, but what it does need is top tier art direction and an inspired visual style, which from what I’ve seen so far, looks like a big swing and a miss on these remakes.

It’s hard to not compare this to the Link’s Awakening remake, which executed upon the same idea—a modern twist on the original visual style—but better. Link’s Awakening was polished and looked (and sounded!) like a Switch game. This just looks cheap, like a mobile phone game. Please let the final build look better.

Whatever the actual circumstances around what Game Freak are doing actually are, this very much feels like they got another studio to whip up a quick remake.
