I think those urethane covers were more about aerodynamics and covering up “ugly” bumpers than it was about absorbing the low speed collisions. That’s why low speed collisions usually result in high costs in panel replacement and paint.

The situation in this case certainly does not erase the trauma she endured, but given the circumstances that she was already victimized, the outcome that she’s alive and with family and that the victimizer won’t have to burden society with his presence is at least about as good of a current scenario as we are likely…
