Did you actually read the articles? I think not. Stephen Hawking is not arguing against the physical phenomenon, merely about some of the specific mechanics of it, the headline has been sensationalized to act as click bait. Seems that it worked.

It would grow until it had nothing left to eat, and then slowly perish from Hawking radiation, is the short version I regurgitate for people if they ask.

Most internet based communities have their cesspools. Even Kinja here is full of hotheads and idiots who either don’t read the headlines or snap at people for little reason (Recent comments about Walt and his Bel-Air or the article about the most recent fatal Tesla crash come to mind). I once commented that I wouldn’t

That’s a civilized law for civilized people.

“He probably could have handled it better but if it was rabbis then good riddance.”

Agreed. A properly attentive driver would have probably at least noticed the shape/movement. Obviously with differences with vision and what not, and maybe not paying attention at some critical moment the result would have been the same, but the odds would have been better if the observer was actually paying attention

I know that Top Gear liked using “horsepower per ton” so it’s along those lines and is actually a useful way to measure the ratio once you get used to it.

That IS stripped out... Compared to a Hellcat.

Needs a “Super Saint” package option with 777 horsepower...

I tried applying UUDDLRLRBA and IDKFA and neither of those worked for me back in the day. Clearly I was doing something wrong since I only unlocked a handful of colleges.

If your benchmarks for high quality chocolates end at Green & Blacks and Ghirardelli, then you’ve stopped at the gate and haven’t gone beyond. The world of high quality chocolates rises far above those products and there are plenty of chocolate makers in the US competing against the world’s best.

160k miles and going strong. Well, sort of. My second power steering pump is about to give up the ghost. The paint’s rough but undented body so other than those things it still runs great.

People driving with their high beams on isn’t the big problem with headlamps these days. It’s people who are too lazy or don’t understand that you can’t use LED or HID bulbs in reflector housings. It’s maddening these days how many cars are running this illegal combination of bulb and housing. The effect is like

That’s because in California you have to be older in the first place to have afforded the land prices decades ago to allow you to accidentally stumble upon caches worth millions.

I took typing as an elective at school on old electronic typewriters. It’s the skill I use the most on a frequent basis. Well, maybe second to mediocre basic grammar rules and vocabulary, I suppose.

Two of my cars are underdogs. a 2006 Mazdaspeed 6 and a 1995 Ford Probe GT. Neither car is the one the vast majority out there would choose vs other cars of their class and year.

My first car was an automatic back in 1991 because my dad helped finance it. In 1995 I switched to a manual and never looked back. I still own 3 out of 4 manual cars I purchased, including the first, a 1995 Ford Probe GT. I’ve logged 400,000 miles now rowing my own gears between those four cars.

I order my steaks medium. If they come out medium well, still very palatable to me. If they come out closer to medium rare, still palatable. I just don’t care for mushy meat and I want to ensure a good sear/crust. Not to mention after many years of trying to find some enjoyment, I’ve determined that my taste buds find

I have to ask though. I assume that the appetizer wasn’t just the cheese alone. Or was is seriously 13 pounds for a hunk of cheese plopped on a dish? Seems like they would have served it with something to spread the cheese on, so maybe a bit unfair just to complain about the cost vs retail for the cheese alone.

I read the caption and for a moment it reminded me of the Time I deliberately ate silica aerogel back in the 90's.
