I would think their volume to production capacity is a similar ratio to larger manufacturers (everything is less as they all want to run as close to full capacity as possible). If anything, BMW and other European manufacturers probably leave production slots open for MTO orders since they have built a business

Somewhat true: T5 + Manuals have always held there value more than their 2.4i brethren (which used to go for ~$7k for similar mileage). Add AWD and these are rarest of the bunch (except for V50 version). It’s overpriced by about $4k IMO, but was NEVER a $5k car for this layout.
