The issue with this mod is that the pillars are part of the door frame itself (instead of being covered with a black trim piece) so it sticks out instead of being flush with the glass.

I’m going to disagree on that first point unless you have evidence showing a correlation between being able to drive a manual and also being a car thief.

The problem is there is not much of a  market for just a “sporty” cars company anymore and the “luxury” portion is now for the most part baked in or just an option package away. 

This maybe explains why my Rav4 was such a rocket (relatively), but also returned a respectable 24 MPG. Curious if this includes that gem 2GR-FE 3.5l. (sans water pump issue)?

Geebus if you got a 1st gen CR-V for $5500 in 2002 that was a great deal. My parents purchased a new ‘99 in ‘00 and neither dealership in Omaha or Lincoln would budge on MSRP price as they were extremely popular. And they hold there value so well.
