Uh, I didn't get a birthday party until was 21. I had family dinners though, which were nice. I had to explain to my 7yo this year that no, you don't get a party every year, and you should be grateful for what you do get. Thankfully, she's a pretty awesome kid, and generally is grateful for what she gets. No

Not to mention, there have always been spoiled brats, particularly of wealthy parents. I don't see how this is a new development.

What about Hugh Jackman? If wver there was a triple threat...

Exactly. The difference between communist ideals and communist regimes is large. The cynic in me (although I'd say realist) says that humanity is far too greedy, selfish and power hungry to ever achieve a true communist society. In the meantime, I support regulated(!) capitalism with socialist elements- I think it's

And to be fair, the Qld police force is better than most- after Bjelke-Petersen there was a huge push to rid the force of corruption, and it worked, for the most part. There is also a pretty good amount of transparency (for any government agency) and ongoing communication with and participation in, the greater

Unfortunately I can't take credit for it- and at one stage, someone had even modified his wikipedia page to have his title as "The Lizard King" . Classic.

In regards to your last point- Don't you remember Cameron Doomadgee and the Palm Island riots? It may not happen as often, and our police are, in general, much better, but it still happens.

My father has been mistaken for my husband more than once (he's 19 years older, so not a huge stretch). Doesn't help that my daughter looks more like him than she does me. I shrug it off, have bit of a chuckle about it.

Happens in smaller families too- particularly in cases of remarriage.

I am actually jealous of your shitty weather. I'm more or less confined to bed (just had a spinal fusion) but I have no aircon and it's so HOT! It hit 43 yesterday (Celsius obvs). I'd give anything to be cold so I could snuggle in bed, rather than roast.

That would be cool, and I would pay money for it- especially if it includes a pet parrot ;)

It's "less" of an issue because being insulted (while sucky and painful) is not the same thing as systemic oppression. There are some excellent comments (take a look at Lindaaargh and squarerootof *sp?) that detail how heavy people are oppressed that lead to significantly worse outcomes than those of thinner people.

But the "bad parts of being skinny" isn't due to being thin- it's due to being a woman. It's a sexism issue- the pressure on women to look good is pure sexism. And being fat does not shield from that particular aspect of sexism-in some ways it's worse, because we don't even come close to meeting societal expectations.

I've heard plenty of thin women say their suffering is exactly the same- and even some who say it is worse! And if it were just people saying- let's move forward without the names, I'd be all for it. Unfortunately, it seems to be far more derailing than that. In other comments I've compared it to men complaining to

Exactly. Extremely well put.

Some friends and I are going to get absolutely slaughtered and watch it- I expect to have a fantastic time 😊

Wow, self-persecution much?

If your talking about Merkel- Aussies love her, particularly since she went out the town, having a few beers and taking photos with the locals ;)

Can't forget telling everyone that Australia was empty before the Brits got here...

It's a drop bear- one of Australia's most dangerous animals.
