NGR, Travis and, to a greater extent, Snow Patrol were not Britpop bands. Their music was, as you say, humble and without the edge that accompanied the Britpop sounds. They also both made it big sometime after Britpop's zenith in 1995.

I don't know how many of the people posting on here are American - most, I guess - but I'm from the UK, and found these guys, Toad, Goos, Soul Asylum, and Hootie all about the same time.

And Allison Road tops them both.

Completely agree. Allison Road is the best song on the album for pure pop perfection. It's unimprovable. Hey Jealousy was decent but somehow struck more of a chord - perhaps it was a slightly heavier sound.
