So this episode settles it for me: #teamrafael. While misguided, Rafael has shown himself to be all in for Jane time and time again. Have an abortion if you aren't ready to have a kid, sue my sister and put my hotel at risk, I'll share custody with you and your man, move in, marry me, I'll break up with you before I

Rogelio's Easter suit was everything! Man was wearing the hell out of that suit!

This … this!!!! I have been saying this for weeks! I think the writers are so in love with Jane that the internal life of every other character gets the short shrift.

So I was expecting some sort of comeuppance for Jane, but I can't say this is what I hoping. Not displeased with it but a surprise. It's ironic: Rafael's decision is essentially what Jane wanted a couple of episodes back. But somehow Rafael will be the bad guy for it.

I agree - I saw it as less of evil Rafael and more about different expectations/solutions. But Jane is currently being written as so self-righteous that any point of view not her own is seen as a huge human failing. Again, I hope this is all intentional and the writers have some delightful epiphany planned for our

Best line of the week: “I needed to make love to you somewhere that didn’t feel like a convent.”

I love you for saying trifling!

Agree - clearly it's Jane's world and everyone else is just living in it. I find Jane's lack of empathy for the people she professes to love (Xo, Rafael, Rogelio, Michael, her friends … poor Frankie) a pretty serious character flaw.

Upvote for the Slick Rick reference … and the other good points.

This! Exactly this! A nanny isn't the most horrible thing in the world … some would see it as a benefit and a commitment: he's not expecting Jane to give up all her dreams and goals to mother his child. And damn, can we cut the man some slack?!? His mother abandoned him at age 4. He loses a child due to a miscarriage.

Yaaaassssss!

it was totally worth an iTunes season pass!

Agree. That's my biggest complaint about the show - none of the main characters seem to have much of a life beyond driving Jane's story. Clearly it's Jane's world and everyone else is just living in it - it's good to be the titular character. That's fine for now but come season two and three, that's going to be hard to

And therein lies my issue with Jane of late - Rafael has been all in from the start … even before it was romantic. He didn't drop the cancer card when she was considering an abortion, supported her lawsuit despite the potential loss for him, was willing to consider joint custody with her and Michael. Hell, he went

So I think I may also be experiencing some JtV fatigue. The past two episodes felt like so much filler (entertaining and charming filler, but filler nonetheless) designed to simply set up whatever plot twists to come in the last third of the season. Continue to bring Michael back into Jane's orbit with his bromance

So I rewatched and stand by my original take that Jane was fairly insufferable, borderline unlikable, in this episode. But offer these as the best lines of the week:
Aaron: I don't even know where his remains are.
Petra: They were respectfully scattered.

Yaaasss!

I agree - I was surprised that it got such a high grade. It's a C/C-. And I think Rafael benefits from Michael's total Howdy Doody vibe (can he get a worse haircut?). Rafael is a bit of a butterface … a really impressive butterface but still.

Agree on your last point: That's the self-righteous, dogmatic Jane that I find so unappealing. She is so young and naive but still very much a know-it-all. I wish Jane had a character/confidant who could speak truth to her power. There doesn't seem to be anyone who tells Jane about herself - no one who truly checks

I agree. I didn't love this episode as much as others. I found Jane to be just a tiny bit insufferable - a little bit of a scold. I appreciate the pragmatism but it sometimes veers close to self-righteousness. Should she marry Rafael? Probably not yet. But I found her "this is the way things must go" more than
