When I did game devolpment I quickly learned to quit trying to explain it to people. That one the single biggest improvement of my development career. #2? I quit calling it game development and started calling it “simulations”.

I want to add to my previous comment that your hobby should be inexpensive and unobtrusive enough that it never gets brought up as an issue.

I should add that having specific things that are just yours as part of your routine is a biggie.

I’d guess that you probably don’t have much YOU time. Pick some space and a simple hobby that is just for you. Keep that space and hobby reasonably private.

We are doing this while living in a small rv.

This is why my mini rv is a Chevy Astro long cargo in white. I can park it anywhere with the partition behind the front seats closed and the rear windows tinted and curtained.

My drivers end was purely classroom. None of which prepared me for testing in my Crown Vic in NY. Passed no problem but even the instructor was worried about my 37 foot boat.
