You think Joyce Carol Oates believes dinosaurs are walking the earth?

I don't know if he'll read these, but he introduced me at Trevorlive as a speaker and I never got to actually say hi or thank him for participating/saying nice things about us nonfamous volunteers! So thanks Matt! You seem like a thoughtful guy.

I think the big inference is that there never was a baby or pregnancy, and that she simply told her daughter she had a c-section scheduled. Yikes!!

Tbh I find his whole honor code completely disingenuous because he beats the shit out of people regularly, throws them off buildings, inadvertently causes explosions - Batman has undoubtedly killed people. It’s never resonated with me that his hands are clean because he doesn’t *intend* to use deadly force. I always

LA air quality really isn't that poor anymore

That’s a pretty large implication to make based on no information. Many lesbian couples use sperm banks for fertilization, which would mean that only one of the mothers would be biologically related. My aunts used a family friend as a donor because they didn’t have a male relative who could donate. The sources quoted

Eh, not necessarily. Artificial insemination isn’t a sure thing - they could have anticipated a successful fertilization but not known for sure. No guarantees, they’d be finding out regardless of if it was planned.

This is a good question, I’ve also been wondering what the best course of action would be when the perpetrator is a minor and sibling.

I understand what you’re saying, but I don’t think it’s an apt comparison. What Josh did was monstrous, but he was literally a child. He should have received counseling and been held accountable for what he did, but he should not have been thrown in prison or tried as an adult. Tamir Rice was also a child, and what

He was cutting her hair to punish and humiliate her, not because she needed a haircut but didn’t want to get one. Dictating a child’s appearance is different than altering their appearance as punishment, imo

In what world is that a reasonable punishment? That’s her body, her hair. It’s a violation of her autonomy and there’s no productive lesson to be learned from that- just fear and insecurity. Its vindictive and gross.

Are you being deliberately obtuse? The point is that there’s already so much shame and fear surrounding mental illness, and that it’s counterproductive to treat people with suicidal ideation like criminals. Having some compassion and understanding for people who want to end their lives isn’t glorifying or condoning

In what fucking universe is “death by suicide” a glamorization of killing yourself? Literally no one has said its “noble”. Have fun with those mental gymnastics though

What are you even talking about? It’s not about suggesting she didn’t kill herself, it’s about having empathy and not criminalizing suicide. The vast majority of people who kill themselves are suffering from severe mental health issues. Those are as real a disease as leukemia.

The piece from ESPNW posted above would suggest otherwise, unfortunately

She is literally not happa. How hard would it have been to cast a happa actress?

Going through the university is necessary if you want to get the assailant expelled quickly- to protect the victim and future victims. Our criminal justice system moves very slowly, and all the while he could be living on campus and hurting other women, or tormenting the victim. It could be months and months before

I'm dying to know where you're from- marin county?

All lip fillers are temporary, actually. You have to continue injecting them, I think it’s usually a few times a year.

Willfully ahistorical nonsense. Do you think the civil rights movement was born out by quiet, polite marching? The violence and rioting was tragic, but certainly not “asinine”, christ.
