it’s all fun and games until someone starts calculating DTV and the only thing the banks “let” you have is a pricier new vehicle because of the rebates tricking that DTV system to be at 60-95%, whereas the used already took the rebates and depreciation, so it hovers at that 100-120% mark.

I think a part of the issue is loan/financing. Every industry gets price happy when loans or other debt-inducing financing comes into play. Vehicles, Education, Housing, Furniture. All of them have risen into the mezosphere on general pricing and all of them have loan/financing options. 

you forgot to discuss how in the last 3 years we’ve had 2 deep plunges of used car values that leave people like me having 150-200% DTV on a car, thus being stuck with it until vehicular death. And even then, if the car dies before the loan is paid, it’s still an anchor of car debt that robs people from getting even…

but it doesn’t fall to shambles like a Kia. 

I feel similar about the Regals. I got the 16 Regal Turbo before they changed everything and enjoy it. 

when buick started selling encores and cramming low performing engines into everything is when I couldn’t take it anymore. the 9 speed transmissions are for the ass performing 1.6L engines that do all their power inbetween 1-1.5k rpms.
