Insurance is actually one of the more reasonable aspects of flying, believe it or not. The more flying time you have, generally, the lower your premiums become. 

Yes, and “new” ADS-B technology advertisements make it sound like it’s only a $2-3,000 upgrade, which is insanely misleading. The new equipment only costs that much, but a lot of planes will need a lot of extra $$$ spent on retrofitting to accept the ADS-B modification (e.g. new radios).
