FLAGGED
OH, sorry. Yeah, the show could be all Raylan and Boyd and Ava reading phonebooks and I would love it on some level no matter what happens.
Yeah, I don't know, I found the first half hilarious. But enough people don't agree that I feel obligated to still attach the disclaimer. I think the last episode is super weak too though, feels more like the premiere of season 2 in places than a season 1 finale. They should have gone with the utter gutpunch and ended…
You'd think that, but then you read the commments and find out there's another 35 great shows they missed.
Edit: I wrote a witty comment here, but I'm going to save if for part 2 so more people can read it. This kind of thinking is what helps you build a brand around here, remember that.
Gravity Falls has had 9 solid episodes, but solid just isn't going to cut it in this super competitive year.
Really looking forward to tomorrow cutely drawn Hannibal Lecter stabbing dudes.
That's one thing Adventure Time has been amazing at, not being boring.
Yeah, it's frustrating to see New Girl on the list, but then you realize that a lot of the staff probably still watches it. Harder for new shows to gain traction, especially in a year with so many new shows.
Poor Viola Davis, she deserves all the respect she can get for that.
It suffers from it's first half being weaker than the second half. Now, I still found that first half plenty funny, but many others didn't, and that's fair. Once you hit episodes 7 and 8 though, the gloves come off, and it's fantastic, and it sucks that not a lot of reviewers gave it the chance.
Oh it is VERY smart. I don't rate it as highly because I'm more drawn into a shows visuals and tone than anything else, and it's sadly a very pedestrianly shot show. But no doubt it's themes and worldbuilding and characters are all great.
Woah woah woah, there's a murder mystery/teen soap I'm not watching?! Where can I get this shit?
SPOILER ALERT
That's what I said, but it's a thought so nice, it bears saying twice!
Korra's so good it deserves to be mentioned twice.
*since 2010, but yeah, it was a great return to form for the show. I wrote longer thoughts on this elsewhere, but basically what Moffat's doing to shake up the character ruts rules.
That's one trend I've been noticing, this year belonged to the new. Most of the top rated shows everyone loved are either brand new or in their sophomore season, The Good Wife is the only really notable exception. It's less those shows got worse, and more the standards of quality rose past them.
Doctor Who's strongest season in years for sure. They took an uninteresting companion and turned her into one of the show's most dynamic and fascinating characters since Donna, and really shook up the central relationship of the show, turning it crazy in numerous ways. That coupled with some one-off premises I really…
Archer had a good season, but it suffered from both being a step down from the last three incredible years and being an older show in a year that was dominated by a strong fresh crop of shows.
