I am honestly impressed and the sheer restraint Ryan Murphy must have shown to wait until episode 2 to reference Freaks. I can only imagine how hard it must have been for him to wait.

The only upside to Hannibal being canceled at the end of season 3 is that I can read the books to get an idea of how the next 3 seasons were going to go.

Since when has "playing himself" been a problem for an actor, if they do a good job playing themselves? Though that's besides the point, since the creepy, evil Merlyn was a decent change from Harkness. Plus, in both roles he stands as proof hammy can be done very well.
