I think that daring backfired plenty though. It was nice to be able to tune into season 5 and know you were getting a quality show and not something about Shirley's possible illegitimate baby, or Chang raising a tween army.

Celebrity Pharmacology. Wine Tasting. Anything involving Shirley's baby.

I think it's cool that there are a variety of opinions about this show and we can both enjoy it in vastly different ways. That's the real hallmark of a great series.

The reason is the natural insecurity social media brings out in people, that fear that would naturally come from taking something that was subjective, and putting an objective quantifier on it. Also, the reason is a Logan's Run parody, which is always great.

That was one my brother refused to rewatch over spring break. And I get it, it's a plot that's super personal and painfully so. It's great, but it's a tough watch, but that's part of its greatness. Reminds me a lot like Mixology in that way.

What's your favorite episode this season?

As a whole: 5 > 2 > 3 >>> 1 >>>> 4
The best episodes: 2 > 3 > 5 > 1 >>>>>>>>>> 4

I know some disagree, or say it's too recent, but the 5th is my favorite. Easily the most consistent in the series with no bad parts (in my opinion), and though it doesn't hit as high of heights as the 2nd or 3rd, it handily beats the dismal 4th and even squeaks by the 1st. A big reason is the new characters which

This is the AV Club. Dropping very personal stories into overlong pop culture analysis is what we do.

Great analysis. Also, you have my sympathies for your situation.

You hit on what I love about the plot of Link's Awakening: the game forces you to do something you don't want to do to complete it. The only way to "win" is to erase all the friends you just made from existence. It's a really powerful thing, to put the player's morality at odds with their instinct for progress.

I agree with all of this, especially that last sentence.

It makes no narrative sense that he would put up a front.

"the story of someone who's so much more interested in what he's imagining and so oblivious to reality that he falls in love with someone who's "not his type" "

Yeah, I remember that they did that so Incredible Hulk could be considered a sequel if you wanted. But that was before the Cinematic Universe was set in stone. Disney has now shut the Bana movie out. The whole movie is a weird fluke in timing, it really feels like its caught between two eras. The only reason it's in

Being wedged between the smart and capable (and gone too soon) Liz and the strong willed and fun Sarah means she definitely suffers by comparison. But her cheerfulness and chemistry with Pertwee prove that she has her own worthwhile strengths.

2008, Edward Norton, the one that's still canon.

Jo has really been winning me over recently with the Third stories I've been seeing. I feel so stupid for dismissing her when I first saw Terror of the Autons.

Haha, you have to admit you're reaching now. It just makes no sense that Syrio would transform to watch over Arya, only to then be annoyed by her presence. And it wouldn't make sense for the protective Syrio to not watch over Arya if he could. Sorry, he's dead.

I love the Doctor's Wife as an episode, but you're right. The Ood could have been any random alien, the only reason it's an Ood is because it looks creepy and they had a spare costume lying around.
