There were a handful of times I nearly gave up on Skyward Sword; the first few hours are insanely tedious, the forest flood subquest, the unnecessarily long cutscenes.

By a pool, yes. But by a beach, it depends on the weather, how crowded the beach is, etc. A nice, quiet beach on a northern coast can be really relaxing to read on.
