With study after study after study showing that heterogenous groups of people make better decisions, and a similar number of studies showing that homogeneous groups make worse decisions, it should be quite obvious that having diversity in any workforce is a recipe for success.

My BRZ has a pretty silly startup sequence thanks to my tune. The ECUTEK tune adds four switchable maps to the car, and I really didn’t need more than one, so I asked for a valet tune as the second one, and an anti-theft tune as the third. So if I’m parking my car for an extended period, or somewhere sketchy, I leave

I get it. A procedure makes it an occasion. It makes it fun.

Kit cars are too much of a gamble without knowing the capabilities of the builder, and even then are only worth the cost of of good version of the base car at most. ND.

Seems crazy to pay to have it thrown away rather than sell it to some rally nerd.

Normally a 20 year old German car would be a ND from me, but at this price — for this kind of performance — I think the ask is just about worth the gamble. It’s still a close call, though, and I think for me it would come down to the vibe I got from the seller.

Pre-refresh turbos had the most engine troubles. This is one of those. The timing chain tensioner, no matter how many times they “revised” it with a TSB, would back itself out of the engine block - and expose an oil channel behind it. You’d lose timing, and drain all of your oil, at the same time. The N18 in the 2011

This would be CP even if it didn’t have the N14 engine, and its notorious habit of losing its timing chain tensioner, along with all the oil, while driving.

I think they all had their fair share.

It’s too easy to find the same model with fewer miles for half the price. ND. This dude knows what he has, and definitely needs to keep it at that price.

I don’t know what goes wrong in these little BMWs as they age, but the buyer will find out. The mileage is almost too low.

the point of carplay and AA is that they would never go obsolete - the phone updates contain carplay/AA updates. All the software and updates are on the phone. there’s very little in the car’s hardware besides connection stuff and maybe a small handler that’s pretty simple. My daughter’s carplay in her civic works

Plenty of people use these off road. I have seen them to the doors in mud, and on plenty of trails. I use My Rubi X Gladiator 2-3 times a month off road. With all the things I have upgraded, It is pushing $90k. Many people buy them to use in the environment they were intended.

So... other commenters have touched on some issues, here:

Two issues with this in the US:

1] reversing cameras are required. Therefore a built-in screen is required.
2] last I looked, lawmakers were in the process of demanding that cars came standard with AM radio.

I mean... I *guess* you could have a built-in screen that handles the camera, the AM radio, and whatever vehicle

the sky one touch is absolutely worth the cost. it makes it impossibly easy to open the car up to the outdoors. but I’m forever grateful we went with the now-discontinued diesel on our rubicon. that engine was made for a jeep (442 lb-ft, a savings of around $1500 per lb-ft vs. the 392) and it’s a shame it’s no longer

This is what happens when you have someone with too much money and not enough sense in charge of things that ignores the rules.

Elon Musk?

I miss when every other article wasn’t ragebait.

Somehow I doubt that the two most corrupt sporting organizations in the world will decide to move their events.  If anything, dickish bagdouchery is a bonus.

I bought a 1989 4dr 5MT Excel sedan in 1993. So, I voted NP for the fond memories.
