That’s deep. That’s good insight. But god is it depressing.

I feel that. :/ The hope that maybe we can avoid being aggressed against by making the right choices (never wearing that/being there/staying so long) is the shadow side of victim blaming. It grows out of the fear of that everything is just chaos and somebody else’s delusion or conviction can lead to us dying broken in…
Well Judge Gary Gilman, good luck sleeping at night. This falls squarely on your shoulders. This man should have been locked up without bail, he was clearly a danger to his wife and himself. And you let him go on a minimal bail. Fucking idiot.
Add me to the list. I like to call myself an equal opportunity avoider. White, brown or black, young or old, if a man looks like he could still outrun me, and I’m alone, I’m crossing the street.
Even when we do it right. We call the police, get a restraining order, tell a judge to increase the bail, nope. I feel this deep burning seethe right now.
You know whose lives really don’t matter? Women’s.
Fuck this judge. This guy should not have had bail even as an option. And how did no one notice he cut off his ankle monitor?! This whole situation is sickening and awful. That poor woman and her poor family. I am really tired of reading about shit like this.
You are right, and that depresses the fuck out of me. Women are the property of those around them, especially when they marry. Then they become their husband’s property.
The next time someone says sexism is over and that feminists are just beating a dead horse, I’m going to refer them to this story.
I knew that ‘marital rape’ has historically been treated as ‘not-really-rape’, and I knew that ‘domestic violence’ has historically been treated as ‘not-really-violence-and-none-of-our-business’.... but I did NOT know that torture was similarly defanged by matrimony.
Why would they let him out? He is a danger to her and others, when are women going to get some respect and real protection. I hope he survives and is forever fucked!
Nope, no culture of pervasive violence towards women, though. No sense of entitlement towards our bodies, time, and attention. It is not crazy to link the ideas that say it’s totally fine to bother a woman with headphones and other micro behaviours and assumptions that lead to the macro reality of now literally…
You see, it wasn’t REAL kidnapping, because they were married! Probably just a silly, marital misunderstanding.
Why did the judge set such a low bail?
The judge should have this woman’s picture tattooed on his forehead along with the words “I helped kill her.”
I feel so sorry for that poor woman and that she had to live in fear with that monster. I’m so sick of reading stories like this one, over and over again. It’s getting really hard not to hate all men to be honest.
Not soon enough.
So, when does the recall petition against this judge start?
This is why I cross the street when I see men
RIP Tierne Ewing, hopefully her suffering will contribute to positive changes for women in the future. Let’s not let her story fade away.
