That's what I keep hearing.
That's what I keep hearing.
My friend Alex and I have actually always seen David Tennant as the emo/hipster Doctor. Chuck Taylors with a pin stripe suit… kissing everyone… In comparison to older Doctors, he's the least in character. But I think it fits regardless. Davies really had to work the angle of him still getting over killing mass…
Yeah, I was really going to miss David Tennant and Matt Smith replaced him for me in about 5 minutes. Though, to give David Tennant credit, a lot of the newer episodes have been good due to better production and writing. I mean, Moffat is so much better than Davies. Though, I do think Davies did some of his best…
Yeah, this is just… incredibly wrong. I'm sorry you've been raised to hate fun.
Black Books is hilarious. Another good British comedy is League of Gentlemen. It has Mark Gatiss too, and he writes a lot of Doctor Who episodes. Even played Lazarus in one.
Not that I was completely worried, but thank Moffat he lives past the finale.
I think it was in the Gateway to Geekery to Ween that you came up with the idea of novelty music. I've always kind of seen Cake as one of those bands. Like their music was made to sound like music, but never really made to resonate. I'm sure that sounds bad, but hey, I'm just being honest.
Amy is awesome. Rose was fun, but her character development was incredibly vague. People just liked Rose because she was a container to pour the viewer's perspective into. Rose was the viewer, and that's all she really needed to be.
Barring accidents, as the second Doctor put it. ;)
I'd say that the cloister bell was a good indication as to what was behind the Doctor's door. I had two immediate thoughts as to what his fear was. Either failing to save the universe, since the cloister bell only goes off in times of universal peril, or losing the TARDIS all together. It seems to be an ongoing…
Not to sound like a turd or anything, but I honestly think this is a show that wouldn't be hard to get into at all… I mean, it's not really heavy on story or plot, so just enjoy the jokes. That's how I always watched it as a kid. Well that and because it came on so randomly.
The Doctor who closed that door in her face is the same Doctor who also allowed the Universe to reboot without him. He makes those hard choices all the time and not even he is exempt from them. I wouldn't say Tennant was darker, I'm just saying, it's nothing new.
@avclub-f857e90064a9f7fde6981aea8a5b8263:disqus - I actually think it's quite believable development. Rory's always been stand offish and protective of Amy. He's always been rather capable as well. He was the only one taking pictures of the crazy shit going on in Eleventh Hour and he didn't even react to the inside…
God… this movie looked so awful. I didn't see it because of my history with Snyder's homoerotic/homophobic 300 and the sheer jumbled mess that was Watchmen. I'm a Snyder hater myself. When this movie came out, I believe it was an AV Club writer who basically compared it to the film made from Zach Snyder's 8 year…
Amen.
Rory is getting increasingly interesting. His ability to state the obvious to the Doctor who is oblivious, makes it easy to see why Amy chose him over the Doctor. His history of being jealous of the Doctor has never put him in the path of possible disenfranchisement, as he never really was swept up in the glamour. …
Their questioning is something really interesting to me, but I think it will probably always go back to free will. The Doctor appreciates anything that is live and let live, and I think all companions need to realize this. He is like Batman showing off the Batcave to a new Robin. If Robin doesn't take the time to…
Yeah, and Karen Gillan really got to flex her abilities as an actress.
Also, I'd like to mention that I don't really think they had done these things already, so much as they had shown them as possibilities. I dunno, they seem more like archetypes of the Moffat era to me.
I thought this episode was excellent. We got to see the Doctor's dark side/pain displayed in this episode. I gasped when he closed that door. I think the episode did a good job continuing the introspection into the nature of the Doctor-Companion relationships that I think is pretty fresh for a show that's almost 50…
