Babies DO notice how others interact with them, and a baby who is obviously a girl gets a lot more screechy cooing, gentle handling and comments about smiling and how she looks. Boys get lower tones, rougher handling…

Lots of people take pictures of their stillborn babies, as it's a helpful thing to some people in the grieving process. It's incredibly common in L&D departments, as is dressing the babies for the picture, etc.

I figured that given that the camera mostly focuses on the two little girls that there's like, a 50% chance the people laughing their asses off ARE that other little girl's parents.
