This isn’t flashy, it’s a goddamn clusterfuck. I don’t mind this in the usual moderate doses, most JRPGs have floating numbers when you hit bosses or enemies, but this is way overdoing it.

I played just a bit of 1, not nearly enough to say I know much about it. I could recognize its status as the game that started it all, but otherwise it was unremarkable. If I hadn’t played any of the other parts I would find it slightly interesting, but for me the short (about an hour) experience was just educational…

So what, if you weren’t old enough to play 1-6 when they came out, you are disqualified? This is idiotic. I started when 9 came out when I was 15. Then I played 8, 7 and 6 before 10 came out. After that I played 4 and 5, while not having played 1-3 (I think they can be safely skipped unless you are a completist).

It doesn’t look like a finished game. The animations are terrible and the combat looks so wooden. The sounds from the fights are also hilarious. I probably sound like an asshole, but this game just looks bad.

If they ever do a real Dark Knight Returns movie, he could play the Joker there. Both he and Batman are older.

Sorry you think that the opposite must be true. You obviously misunderstood my point. I am not saying that death and destruction are kewl and gritty and they should be everywhere. I am saying that their almost annoyingly sanitized version of events makes it very hard to take the movie seriously.

I can’t argue with that, but it was the end of the movie. We don’t know what happened after that. The script could have used more work. I am not saying some criticism isn’t warranted, but most people are overreacting.

You are most probably right. It was still a pretty solid and engaging game, and even if they had to rework the story to make it a SH title it was well executed. Self contained story, but worthy of standing next to 1,2,3 as the good titles of the franchise.

Check my previous reply to you from another post, in short I think it’s different but still a very solid game, better than Origins and Homecoming.

I just saw that the initial story about this not being a SH title at the start of development was a rumor. The game was intended to be a SH title. It’s not perfect, but it’s way better than Origins and Homecoming IMO. Let people decide on their own what they like and what they don’t.

2, 3 and 4. Some people may tell you 4 is where the series started to go down, don’t believe them. 4 is great and almost on the level of 2/3. The series went downhill after 4.

I don’t know, I loved SH4 and think it’s a worthy addition to the great first 3 games. I’d put it on level with SH3, with SH2 slightly above them. Never saw why people dislike it.

They may have back in the day, but nobody ever talks about the series today. Sometimes I feel like I am the only one who played them. No one mentions Fear Effect in the articles referencing old games that should be resurrected today.

I know, but I’m not really holding out hope. I am not sure even if they approve a game how good it would be. Without the old team it will probably be a shadow of its old self. Bring back Stan Liu to write and direct and I’ll be on board.

The movie was far from perfect, but you can’t really expect a single dude with no experience to do well against a general of his own race, well versed in battle and having multiple henchmen.
