Most of the people pissed off about the Mach-E are keyboard warriors who can’t afford one anyway. The response among actual EV buyers has been very positive. It was a good business decision. A lot of muscle car dude-bros don’t like it, but it’s not intended for them. There is some overlap between the Mach-E market and

Ford is planning a BEV F-150. It’s going to use the Rivian platform. Should be out in 2021 or so.

That was my thought as well. “Here’s a gift for you! Now DON’T EVER SLEEP AGAIN.”

Furious 7 should have been the last one. It ended perfectly, and there was absolutely no reason to keep making them. It can only go downhill from here.

It sounds like maybe you just don’t like Minis.

After seeing the clips in the article, I am 110% sold on this film.

It certainly wouldn’t hurt to give it a rest for a while. Bumblebee is the only good Transformers film to date - maybe they should just quit while they’re ahead.

That’s basically what Transformers is. There’s a lot of silly stuff that you have to buy into for any of the franchise to make sense.

Bumblebee was actually pretty good. Nothing mind-blowing, but enjoyable and refreshing. It feels more like a Herbie reboot than a Transformers reboot (in a good way), and not just because it stars a sentient Beetle. In many ways, it’s a perfect execution of the classic “magical friend” movie format (ET, Herbie, The

Ha... I’ve been driving a Leaf for 4 years. I feel like we’re not the most qualified people to be having this 2-door discussion.

I fucking love Squarebacks.

You’d be surprised. It got 50,000 reservations in just the first few days. Granted, those are refundable deposits that don’t necessarily equal actual sales numbers, but it shows that there’s a lot more demand for the car than the V8 guys would like to believe.

“...Ford is making Mustangs with two doors without making a 4-door version.”

A car isn’t bad by definition just because you don’t feel like “fawning” over it.

Ooh, good point! I forgot about the rebates.

1. Who trades in their car after just 3 or 4 years?

That’s some dang expensive electricity! In my area, BC Hydro charges $0.0945 per kWh. Granted, that’s Canadian dollars, but that still works out to less than half what you’re paying in the winter. PG&E must be making a bundle. That’s not normal.

Counterpoint: why is loudness a virtue? Why shouldn’t quiet be the default?

Agreed. Most people who haven’t lived with an EV radically overestimate how much range they need.

I think you may be underestimating just how expensive gas cars are to run and maintain compared to EVs. A Mini Cooper S is about $25K, the EV is about $30K. That difference will easily pay for itself in 3 or 4 years, unless you hardly ever drive.
